Earth Hour 2023 | An Hour to Hug the Earth

27Mar

There’s a truth we must face, the Earth is suffering from many threats: contaminated water, polluted air, degraded soil, ecological imbalance, the climate in a trance, etc. This is why we need to take urgent action for our only home to reverse a world where our climate is stable, nature thrives, and all people have health and happiness.

An Hour to Hug the Earth with Capellacruise

From 8:30 – 9:30 P.M. on March 25, Capellacruise successfully organized An Hour to Hug the Earth as the tribute to mark the remembrance of Earth Hour 2023. This campaign is a part of Capella’s Ecomastery project to raise more awareness about sustainability tourism amongst our community. By switching off all the lights in public areas onboard, we were so happy to see most of the passengers joining the event to celebrate with music and candles, getting in touch with the calming nature of Lan Ha Bay.

An hour may not seem like much, but the magic happens when every single person gives the time and contribution for our ONLY home. If not now, when will we work together to secure a brighter future for our people and planet?

About the music and guitarist Hieu Shade

In 60 minutes, Capellacruise invited all our guests to relax and unwind in a solo guitar performance, enjoying the endless melodies and traveling the world through classical music, from the countryside of Southern Vietnam with sweet lullabies to romantic Italy with timeless love songs, and vibrant Brazil with signature bossa nova tunes.

The music was performed by a talented young guitarist – Hieu Shade. He is the valedictorian of the Western Classical Guitar Performance Department at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Hieu Shade has an endless passion for classical solo guitar performance. With Hieu, music has no boundaries. No matter what language, genre, or rhythm, it can always find a way to everyone’s heart.

The port consists of two areas: a domestic wharf to welcome ships and cruises to visit Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and an international wharf to welcome large ships, and super luxury cruises. While waiting to purchase tickets to explore the bay, visitors can experience culture, gastronomy, or go shopping in the waiting area, which is 13,500 square meters in size and has a capacity of 2,000 people.

Halong Bay Cruise

5 Reasons Why You Should Take a Lan Ha Cruise

13Oct

From ancient fishing villages to secluded beaches, from hidden caves to stunning ocean views, there’s never a shortage of new experiences to embrace in Lan Ha Bay, a less touristic alternative for Halong Bay. A Lan Ha Bay cruise can be a great vacation option for those who want to see the pristine beauty of the Nature without spending a lot of time planning where to stay and where to eat. If you’re wondering about setting sail, here are 5 reasons why you should take a Lan Ha Bay Cruise at least once in your life!

1. Admire the landscape of limestone karsts on a Lan Ha Bay Cruise

Situated in the southeast of Cat Ba Island in the Gulf of Tonkin, Lan Ha Bay, known as the twin of Ha Long Bay, is made up of around 400 karst islands and limestone sea rocks . As a geological extension of Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay is equally as beautiful although it is less visited, less inhabited and therefore has the extra appeal of being a more peaceful place.

Halong Bay Cruise

The magnificent rock formations dominating the Bay’s landscape date to over 500 million years ago. Under the effect of climate and tectonic movements, it would have taken millions of years to become the largest marine karst in the world that we have today. There is no better way to enjoy the mysterious limestone karsts than from the top deck or through the floor-to-ceiling windows of a cruise.

Viet Hai Village Halong Bay Cruise

Officially recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve Zone, Cát Bà Island boasts an extremely diverse ecosystem with plenty of unique flora and fauna as it is home to a number of rare and endangered species of plants and animals, with the world’s rarest primates the Golden-headed Langur.

Do not miss a stopover in the floating villages dating back to millions of years ago, where you can observe local life and traditional practices such as aquaculture, oyster farming or pearl farming.

2. Discover the pristine beaches

What is more relaxing than walking on the beaches surrounded by beautiful mountains offering breathtaking views of pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters and realizing that you’re the only one there. With nearly 400 islands and islets, there are endless beaches waiting to be discovered in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Ba Trai Dao Beach

Taking a Lan Ha Bay cruise, you will be able to enjoy a stop off at some of the most beautiful beaches in the Gulf of Tonkin. However, the real gems are located away from tourist hotspots, where they remain secluded and undisturbed by the crowds. Don’t forget Lan Ha Bay is an excellent spot for kayaking. What could be better than kayaking away from the crowds and discovering lesser-known beaches and off-shore islets just moments from the cruise ship?

3. Enjoy a panoramic ocean view from a Lan Ha Bay Cruise

One especially great thing about Lan Ha Bay cruise vacation is that you can enjoy a breathtaking ocean view constantly. Capellacruise, one of the most luxury 5-star cruise in the Gulf of Tonkin, goes a step further by redefining panoramic ocean views with their cabins.

Capella Cruise

All rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows providing access to private balconies for a magnificent view of limestone mountain landscape. Each cabin is designed as a suite with an ocean-view bathtub for the perfect experience in your own comfort and privacy.

4. Enjoy a relaxing way to travel with a Lan Ha Bay cruise

Since relaxation and rejuvenation are often the ultimate goals of any vacation, the pampering options onboard a cruise ship make it an easy choice for those who are looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

relax in Capella Cruise

Enjoy a cocktail and a good book by the pool or book a spa treatment for private time to rejuvenate and relax. Either way, a Lan Ha Bay cruise gives you the opportunity to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life. They also offer you the opportunity to continue your fitness routine while on vacation while offering a well-equipped fitness room and morning Tai-chi class. You’ll appreciate every blissful moment and return home feeling like yourself, only better.

5. Lan Ha Bay cruise offers a variety of amazing activities

If you’re worried that you’ll be bored on a cruise ship, don’t worry! While taking a Lan Ha Bay cruise like Capellacruise, there are plenty of onboard activities and shore excursions for you to experience. From kayaking to riding a bamboo boat with locals, cave exploring to excursions to floating villages, cooking classes to Tai-chi practices, there’s truly something for everyone.

Ba Trai Dao Islet (Three Peach Islet)

20Sep

Ba Trai Dao Islet (Three Peach Islet) is in Lan Ha Bay, near Cat Ba Island, within Halong City, Quang Ninh Province. It is 22 kilometers in the Southeast part of Bai Chay Tourist Wharf. This islet is a group of three small mountains which, seen from afar, resemble three giant peaches – a fact that accounts for the name “Ba Trai Dao”, which means three peaches in Vietnamese. The average height of three mountains is 23 meters giving the islet a majestic beauty. It boasts three small beautiful sandy beaches (Ba Trai Dao Beach), embracing small islands.

There is also a myth behind the unique name of Ba Trai Dao Islet. The residents of Halong Bay tell the old story of how the fairies escaped Heaven and came here for sightseeing and swimming. The youngest fairy, beautiful and virtuous, fell in love with a poor fisherman on Ba Trai Dao Islet. Her deep love empowered her to do something she had never thought of: stealing the eternal peaches from Heaven to give to her lover so that they could live together forever. However, when she was waiting for the fisherman where we see Ba Trai Dao Islet today, the King of Heaven showed up. It turned out that he had known everything about the robbery. The King turned the three peaches into three stone islands and forced the young fairy to return to Heaven. Too desperate and helpless, the young fairy complied. Therefore, the locals named the islet “Ba Trai Dao” Islet (Three Peach Islet).

Engulfed by tides rising most of the day, Ba Trai Dao Islet only reveals its beaches for 2 – 3 hours each day. The beaches are beautiful with white sand and crystal blue water, where on sunny days, visitors can see through to the bottom. Compared to other beaches on Halong Bay, Ba Trai Dao Beach is shallower, and the water is knee-deep in most places. Shaped like a bow embracing the islet, the surrounding peaks create a stone shelter for the beach and add its stunning beauty with its abundant green vegetation and vibrant wildflowers. The combination of the mountains, the white sand and the ocean gives this spot an unprecedented stunning landscape.

Ba Trai Dao is becoming one of the best-loved destinations for those looking for a serene and primitive stopover, a place to explore the wilderness with many exciting and relaxing activities such as kayaking, swimming, or just sunbathing on the beach.

Dark & Bright Cave, the unique cave in Lan Ha Bay

20Sep

Visitors to Halong Bay often hear about famous caves such as Sung Sot (Surprise Cave), Luon (Tunnel Cave), and Thien Cung (Heaven Palace Cave), which are very beautiful but quite crowded with tourists in recent times. But suppose you go further, to a more quiet area (for example, just 2 kilometers from the Surprise Cave).

In that case, you will find two extraordinary caves where limestone mountains meet the sea to create a unique combination of nature: Bright and Dark Caves. This area lies on the border of Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, near Cat Ba National Park. Formed by an enclosed group of islets, these caves connect with the sea via a 4-meter-wide, 100-meter-long, and 3-meter-high mouth.

Visit the Bright cave is one of the excited experiences when cruising Lan Ha Bay

Bright cave in Lan Ha Bay

Although not as famous as Halong Bay, and with perhaps fewer specially shaped rock formations, Lan Ha Bay, with its Dark & Bright Cave, earns its place as a particular piece of the World Heritage site which it is part of. We think it is undoubtedly one of the best places for kayaking, swimming or photography. Cruising to Bright part of the cave, you will see an angled passageway opening the cave at water level. Inside the lovely passage is a serene round lake surrounded by lush trees and steep stone cliffs, reminiscent of a stadium surrounded by a high platform.

Going around the lake, you might imagine being in a colorful garden with the Benjamin fig trees and various sweet-scented orchids spreading their blooms, close enough to touch. Not being surrounded by islets like Bright Cave, Dark Cave is long and dark, like a tunnel.

Because it is very dark inside (hence its name), anyone going through it needs a torch to light the way. Unlike Bright Cave, which is always available for visiting, Dark Cave can be engulfed by the tide when the moon is high, so it is not usually listed in cruise itineraries.

A Complete Lan Ha Bay Guide For First-Timers

31Jul

With its jagged karst limestone islands rising from the azure sea, pure beaches, Lan Ha Bay is an enthralling place to visit.

1. Why Lan Ha Bay?

Being a World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is famous for its stunning caves and islands, and no one can be doubtful about the beauty of Halong. Thousands of people have traveled here and come back every year. But actually, there is another place that even offers you much more. It’s Lan Ha bay, situated in the east of Cat Ba Island, known as the twin of Ha Long bay, an undiscovered land and water of blooming tourism in Vietnam in the last decade. Tourists now can fully explore the bay on an overnight cruising tour package.

Lan Ha is a highly serene gulf-shaped bay spreading over a range of more than 7,000 hectares, of which 5,400 hectares are under the management of Cat Ba National Park, with about 400 small and large islands creating an enormous picture depicting the scene. Dissimilar to Halong, all islands in Lan Ha Bay are covered with green trees or vegetation, even if it is a tiny island like a peninsula. The waters here are home to hundreds of species of fish and marine life. Larger marine animals in the area include seals and even three species of dolphin.
